Previous entry hadn't been holding any water for quite some time: not that I'm lying to myself or anything, it's just not representative. If I had to put it briefly: "Golgotha" finally expanded into a much bigger project and inevitably got delayed, next - and in a way the First Proper One - TSF record will be God knows when (and it isn't necessarily a bad thing, to be honest). Well, not that any of it mattered here on dA, right?

I'm still pretty rusty with visual work: can't tell how much of it is everyday deadlines or lack of a certain degree of discipline on my behalf. There are many (probably too many) drafts on different stages of completion waiting to be realized, though, so at least I won't fall short of basics. Planning to deliver at least some of them 'til the end of August.

I saw earlier that you live in one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, though I can't remember which one exactly. Pretty dark and cold at this time of the year at least. I also saw you apparently like Sun O))). Combining these two pieces of data, one can't help arriving at Winter: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY5w5X… . Know those guys?

Oooh, nice. I really thought 'Servants of the Warsmen' was an Asphyx song, since it popped up as a bonus on the last year's "Incoming Death" and I didn't bother to check if it was a cover version. Strangely enough, never heard of Winter but have this release somewhere in my endless folders - will definitely check it out; never too much old-school doom, isn't it?

Sunn are nice, though over the years I've almost completely fell out of their studio output (excluding Gravetemple's 'Ambient \ Ruin', to this day one of the most unsettling records I've heard): their live work feels much more intricate and present in the moment. It's a bummer that the "Нежить" release of a Moscow concert isn't easily available on vinyl, the prices are ridiculous. Easily one of their best recordings on par with "Domkirke" and two rehearsal 12''s.

I live in Norilsk, yeah. Lots of exaggerated or romanticized reports over the internet, but yeah, can't pretend things aren't harsh here. Last couple of winters were obnoxiously cold even by local merits.

There's something about that Winter album, even after almost 3 decades it just won't sound dated. It's undateable:) Romanticized or not, it seems to me that life in Norilsk is pretty much unimaginable for someone who lives in comfortable W-Eu. I suppose those cold winters are caused by the same vast stagnant area of high air pressure over Eastern Europe and western Russia that holds the place where I live (Holland) locked in the claws the most depressing and dispiriting weather imaginable for weeks or months on end: a kind of windless half-fog (not even a proper fog) that kills every pleasant emotion a person could possibly harbor. It does seem to have been getting more frequent and persisting over the years, maybe it has to do with the melting polar ice cap.
